BAKER UNIVERSITY CAMPUS TOUR

WalkingTourCompass.gif (5875 bytes)WalkingTourLogoBar.gif (2388 bytes)Mabee Hall, constructed in 1911, is the home of the Department of Business & Economics along with the Psychology Department, the Sociology Department, and the Athletics Department. The building houses faculty offices, classrooms, computer labs, conference rooms, a fitness center, a weight room, and a gymnasium. Mulvane Hall, constructed in 1925, houses the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Environmental Science. Parmenter Hall, originally constructed in 1863, houses the Department of Art along with the Holt Russell Gallery and the Darby Hope Theater. Harlaxton College, located north of London near Grantham, England is one of the favorite study abroad destinations for Baker students and is considered to be an integral (although distant) part of the Baker campus and community. The Collins Sports Center is a state-of-the-art arena that is home to Baker's men's and women's basketball teams. The Osborne Chapel, located in an arboretum on the east side of campus, was originally located in the village of Sproxton, England and was moved to its present location in 1996. Disassembled by stone masons in Sproxton and reassembled stone-by-stone on campus, the chapel was rededicated by former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher whose father, a Methodist minister, had preached in the chapel during the 1930s.
