"The law is a magic mirror in which we see reflected not only our own lives, but the lives of all mankind, past and present, throughout all the nations of the earth. The study of law, ultimately, becomes the study of the stories of human nature."

COURSE DESCRIPTION
In the modern legal environment of business, issues which require the application of law to the process of business decision-making are not only commonplace, they often dominate the day-to-day operation and management of an organization. Contract law, tort law, property law, employment law, administrative law, environmental law, debtor- creditor law, antitrust law, corporation law, securities law, bankruptcy law, product liability law ..... all of these areas of the law and many more both facilitate business activity and restrict business activity. The law regulates virtually every aspect of the business environment and business operations, therefore it is essential that business-persons possess a working knowledge of all areas of law. The purpose of Business Law I is to introduce the business student to the legal environment of business, to provide an overview of the theoretical foundations of the U.S. legal system, to facilitate the development of legal reasoning skills, to learn as much as possible about many of the substantive areas of business law, and to bridge the gap between legal theory and "real world" application through a focus on the preventative medicine uses of business law in the day-to-day operation of a business enterprise.
